Cooney Brothers Ranch
Welcome to big ranch country.
Wide open spaces with rugged mountains as your back drop, acres of
vast open grassland and pine covered rolling hills where cattle graze
and abundant wildlife roam free. Tailor make your stay on this 50,000
acre ranch to experience the ranching activity of the season, or
just sit on the porch and get away from it all. This 4th generation
authentic working family ranch welcomes guests to move at their own
pace; decide how much or how little you want to do. No schedules,
no crowds, just lots of western hospitality and if you are yearning
for quiet and solitude, you’ll find it here.
Consider this ranch setting for family reunions, weddings, and retreats
in all seasons. There is a long tradition of celebrating events as
a family and with friends. Meals often feature ranch-raised grass-fed
beef whether served in the Cookhouse, barbequed at the Buffalo Jump
Camp or cooked at one of the ranch homes. This is a family run cattle
business where everyone shares in the work and the leisure.
Activities available ala carte:
• Work revolves around
the seasons and the cattle, and a typical day for working ranch guests
involves seeing a lot of different country and homestead sites.
• Fish Creek is good place to catch brook trout and there is a pond
for canoeing.
• Excellent trails for hiking on the ranch and at Half Moon Park
• Old sheepherder monuments provide photographic vantage points and
are havens for painters or anyone who enjoys scenic beauty and a place
for watching birds, deer, antelope and other wildlife.
• Explore Native American tipi and wiki-up sites. The buffalo jump
is an easy walk from the guest house.
