Experience Montana heritage and the ranching way of life up close and
personal in a relaxing and low key atmosphere. Featured in
the Sunset Magazine, the Jarrett family has been in the Montana ranching
business since the 1880’s when great-great grandfather Mendenhall
settled across the Yellowstone River from what is now the home place.
Today the ranch is situated on 4500 acres at the foot of the Crazy
Mountains and on the Boulder River, with a grazing permit in the Gallatin
Range. The ranch focus is production agriculture and they have 300
Angus cattle and 250 sheep.
Meet the family: “Rancher Rick” as
the kids affectionately call him, is known for his “ranch tours” and
his story telling. Daughter Jami is a working partner on the ranch
and she is a wonderful cook. And as Rick will tell you flashing a grin, “I’m
a part time rancher and a full time grandpa.” His grandkids
Jordan (12) and Jess (8) play an important role in the ranching operation
and when Jess says, “Come back and see us,” he means it!
Ranch Activities
Spring lambing is often thought of as the perfect combination of nature
and nurture. People of all ages marvel at the miracle of motherhood
and the fruits of nurturing. Something vital fills each and every day
during the month of April.

Accommodations
Panoramic views include both the Crazy Mountains and the Absarokee
Range of the Rocky Mountains. The bunkhouse is nestled along Duck Creek nearby the ranch house. It
is cozy and comfortable with private bath. The requisite bunk bed has
a double bed on the bottom and a twin on the top. There is also a sleeper
sofa in the living area.
