LC Cattle Company
Leo and Lois Cremer invite guests to join them on
their ranch in picturesque Sweet Grass County where the county seat
of Big Timber boasts a population of 1,700 people. The Cremers are
both 4th generation Montana ranchers and their children Megan (26)
and Lane (14) look to the day when they can continue the ranching tradition.
Not just a seminar in ranching, this is an opportunity for guests to
learn a way of life.
Great grandfather Leo Cremer (1891-1953) was
one of the all-time great rodeo producers and is referred to in the
Western Hall of Fame as Mr. Rodeo. Remer rodeo memorabilia can be
found at the local museum. Stories about this great man are told
around the campfire to this day. Lois’s
Norwegian ancestors arrived in the area 100 years ago and her forward-thinking
civic minded family continues to be involved in county politics.
All the necessary elements are here to make a vacation special: quality
family time, hearty meals, outdoor activities and ranching traditions.
Activities:
• No ranch activity evokes the nostalgia of the Old West more than
rope-and-drag brandings. It is tradition for ranch families to get
together and help each other at branding time. (Weather dependent,
most weekends thru May and early June.)
• There is nothing like real rodeo action in a small town setting and
Cremers would like to share the excitement with you at local rodeos.
• Ride ATV’s to go irrigating first thing in the morning
when the wildlife is all around
Kick back and enjoy camping, fishing, or hunting
Accommodations:
Guest room and private bath in the ranch house, and
Two rustic bunkhouses built of hand-hewn logs, sitting back in the
trees in a remote area along the creek. Heated with wood stoves and
guests draw water from a nearby hand pump (no indoor plumbing.) Each
cabin sleeps 4 and is comfortably furnished as it is the living quarters
for the calving crew early each spring.
Ask to have the mobile bunkhouse parked nearby for modern conveniences
at these secluded cabin sites and then you will have the best of both
worlds.
